Sally Smart: Dancetté (The Artist’s Dress)

Sarah Scout Presents is delighted to annoucne Dancetté (The Artist’s Dress), a solo project by renowned artist Sally Smart. The exhibition continues Smart's interest in female representation, enacted through various methodologies including cut-outs and collage using textiles in large-scale installations, as well as video, performance, sculpture and painting. For almost three decades, Smart has been making work at the intersections of dance, movement and pedagogy and, with Dancetté, turns her attention specifically to the role of fashion and design through avant garde histories. Comprising significant new paintings and sculptures alongside a major new 'curtain' work, Dancetté (The Artist’s Dress) includes reference to the wild abstract practice of Sonia Delauney as well as to Smart’s own collaboration with Italian fashion house Marni.
