SUSAN JACOBS completed a Bachelor of Visual Art at the University of Newcastle in 1997 and a Graduate Diploma of Visual Arts at the Victorian College of the Arts in 1999. She was a studio artist at Gertrude Contemporary from 2011–13, an Artspace Sydney resident in 2013 and a resident at the MacDowell Colony, New Hampshire in 2014. She has held numerous solo and group exhibitions over the past fifteen years and recently has presented major commissioned works for Incerteza Viva: 32nd São Paulo Bienal, São Paulo, Brazil (2016); Melbourne Now, National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne (2013-14); the 7th Asia Pacific Triennial, Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane (2012–13); Parallel Collisions: 12th Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art, Art Gallery of South Australia, Adelaide (2012); and NEW10, Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, Melbourne (2010).

 

Jacobs' work is held in public collections including the University of Melbourne, Monash University, the University of Queensland, Methodist Ladies' College, the Poster Collection of Museum fur Gestaltung, Zurich, Switzerland and numerous private collections. Jacobs was a finalist in Melbourne Prize for Urban Sculpture in 2018 and the recipient of a prestigious Australia Council Fellowship in 2019. She currently lives and works in London.
